This Policy Changelog ("Changelog") is the official, authoritative record of all changes made to every document in AqNova's Global Legal Footer Framework — the comprehensive Platform Governance Reference comprising 40+ policy documents covering 25+ jurisdictions. The Changelog is published at aqnova.co/legal/changelog and is updated within 24 hours of any policy change going live on the Platform.
The Changelog serves four principal functions: (1) user transparency — every buyer, vendor, and visitor can see exactly what changed in any AqNova policy and when; (2) legal compliance — the Changelog constitutes the accountability record required by data protection, consumer protection, and platform governance laws globally; (3) dispute resolution — in any dispute about the terms that applied at the time of a transaction or data processing activity, the Changelog is the authoritative source; and (4) investor and regulator confidence — demonstrating AqNova's commitment to systematic, documented governance.

AqNova's Policy Changelog is maintained as a core governance obligation — not merely a transparency courtesy. The legal basis for maintaining this Changelog arises from multiple overlapping jurisdictional requirements:
EU — GDPR Article 5(2) (Accountability Principle): Data controllers must be able to demonstrate compliance with GDPR principles, which requires maintaining records of the basis and timing of all changes to privacy-related documents.
EU — P2B Regulation (EU 2019/1150) Article 3(2): Online intermediation service providers must give business users at least 15 days' advance notice of changes to their terms and conditions, and must maintain a durable record of prior versions.
EU — P2B Regulation Article 4: Ranking parameters and any changes to them must be documented and disclosed.
UK — UK GDPR (GDPR as retained in UK law) Article 5(2): Same accountability requirement as EU GDPR.
USA — California CCPA/CPRA (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.100 et seq.): Privacy policies must disclose when last updated; businesses must honor the privacy rights of consumers under the policy in force at the time of data collection.
USA — FTC Act Section 5 (Unfair or Deceptive Acts or Practices): FTC guidance requires that when material changes are made to a company's privacy policy or terms, users must be notified and given the opportunity to review the updated terms. Failure to notify of material changes to terms under which data was collected may constitute a deceptive practice.
Canada — PIPEDA (S.C. 2000, c. 5) Principle 1 (Accountability) and Principle 8 (Openness): Organisations must be transparent about their policies and practices, and must maintain records of policy changes.
Brazil — LGPD Article 9 (Transparency): Data controllers must provide clear information about data processing activities and any changes thereto.
Australia — Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) APP 1 (Open and Transparent Management): Organisations must maintain and make available an up-to-date privacy policy. When a policy is updated, prior versions must be retained and accessible.
Nigeria — NDPA 2023 Article 34 (Data Controller obligations): Data controllers must maintain records of processing activities and policy documentation.
EU P2B / UK DMCC Act 2024: Platform operators serving business users in the EU and UK must retain prior versions of terms for the duration required by applicable law (P2B: minimum 30 days after supersession for business users; GDPR accountability records: minimum 3 years; AqNova maintains 5 years as a conservative standard).
AqNova sets a 5-year document archive standard across all Policy Changelog entries — exceeding the minimum requirements of most applicable jurisdictions. The 5-year standard is the most conservative common requirement across AqNova's 25+ jurisdictions and ensures that:
Every user, vendor, buyer, or regulator who needs to reference the terms that applied to a historical transaction can do so for up to 5 years after those terms were superseded.
AqNova can demonstrate compliance with GDPR accountability, CCPA privacy practices, LGPD transparency, and equivalent global obligations for any period within the archive window.
Commercial arbitration, consumer protection claims, and regulatory investigations within the applicable limitation period can be resolved by reference to the archived policy version that was in force at the time.
The archive obligation applies from the date a version is superseded (i.e., the date the next version takes effect). A version active from April 7, 2026 that is superseded on January 1, 2027 must be archived and accessible until at least January 1, 2032.
Every change recorded in this Changelog is classified using one of six change types. The classification determines the notice requirements, notification channels, and advance notice periods applicable to the change. Understanding the classification system is essential for vendors, buyers, and investors reviewing the Changelog.
| INITIAL | UPDATE | MATERIAL | MINOR | REGULATORY | ARCHIVED | INITIAL: First publication of document UPDATE: Non-material content update MATERIAL: Material change — notice required MINOR: Administrative / formatting only REGULATORY: Regulatory compliance-driven ARCHIVED: Version superseded |
|---|
| Change Type | Definition, Triggers & Notice Requirements |
|---|---|
| INITIAL — Green | The first published version of a document. No prior version exists. Notice: Platform-wide publication notice at the time of initial launch. Required for all documents at launch on April 7, 2026. |
| UPDATE — Navy | A substantive update to an existing document that does not constitute a 'material change' triggering mandatory advance notice. Includes: new jurisdictions added to regional notices; expanded explanations; new product category references; clarification of existing provisions. Notice: In-platform notification at next user login. Changelog updated within 24 hours of going live. |
| MATERIAL — Red | A change that could significantly affect a user's rights, obligations, data protection, or commercial relationship with AqNova. Examples: changes to data processing purposes; changes to commission rates; changes to return rights; changes to dispute resolution forums; changes to governing law. Notice: 30 days' advance email notice to all affected registered users (60 days for EU/UK business users under P2B Regulation). Email must summarize the material change in plain language. |
| MINOR — Brown | Administrative, formatting, or typographical changes that do not affect any substantive right or obligation. Examples: correcting a spelling error; updating a contact email address; reformatting a table; adding a cross-reference link. Notice: Changelog updated within 24 hours. No user notification required. |
| REGULATORY — Purple | A change required by new or amended applicable law, regulatory guidance, or a binding regulatory order. AqNova has no discretion over the timing of a regulatory-driven change — it must take effect when the law requires. Notice: Where the regulatory change is adverse to users, AqNova provides email notice as soon as practicable and no later than 5 Business Days after the change goes live. Where the regulatory change is beneficial to users (e.g., new consumer rights), it takes effect immediately. |
| ARCHIVED — Grey | The status applied to a document version when it is superseded by a newer version. Archived versions are removed from active display but remain accessible in the 5-year archive at aqnova.co/legal/changelog/archive/[document-slug]/[version]. |
AqNova uses semantic versioning for all Policy Changelog entries, formatted as Major.Minor (e.g., 1.0, 1.1, 2.0). The convention is as follows:
Major version increment (e.g., 1.0 → 2.0): Reserved for MATERIAL changes that significantly alter the document's substance, user rights, or commercial terms. A major version increment triggers the 30/60-day advance notice requirement.
Minor version increment (e.g., 1.0 → 1.1): Used for UPDATES and REGULATORY changes that are substantive but not classified as material. Minor version increments trigger in-platform notification only.
Patch increment (e.g., 1.0 → 1.0.1): Used for MINOR administrative or typographical corrections. Patch increments do not trigger user notification; the Changelog is updated silently.
Example: Privacy Policy v1.0 → v1.1 (added new jurisdiction: India DPDPA compliance) → v2.0 (material change: new data sharing partner added, 30-day advance notice required) → v2.0.1 (corrected email address: MINOR change, no notice required).
The following table sets out the minimum advance notice requirements for MATERIAL policy changes by jurisdiction. AqNova meets the most demanding applicable requirement across all markets — specifically, the 60-day P2B advance notice for EU/UK business users governs AqNova's global standard for Seller Agreement and Platform T&C changes where EU/UK vendors are affected.
| Jurisdiction / Law | Notice Requirement for Material Policy Changes |
|---|---|
| European Union — P2B Regulation (EU 2019/1150) Art. 3(2) | MINIMUM 15 DAYS advance notice for changes to terms affecting business users (vendors). AqNova provides 30 days as a minimum for all users and 60 days as best practice for EU vendors. Notice must be on a durable medium (email) and must summarize the change in plain language. |
| European Union — GDPR Art. 13/14 & Art. 7(3) | Where a material change to the Privacy Policy affects the lawful basis for processing, or adds new purposes not covered by the original consent, prior GDPR-compliant consent (or re-consent) may be required before the change takes effect, depending on the legal basis. Notice must be provided before the change takes effect. |
| United Kingdom — DMCC Act 2024 & UK GDPR | UK equivalent of P2B: reasonable advance notice to business users. UK GDPR: same accountability and transparency requirements as EU GDPR. AqNova provides 60 days' advance notice to UK vendors for material T&C changes. |
| United States — FTC Act & CCPA/CPRA | No statutory minimum advance notice for most consumer-facing policy changes. However, FTC deceptive practices guidance requires that material changes to privacy policies — particularly those that expand data use beyond the original terms — require explicit user consent before the new terms apply to previously collected data. CCPA: Privacy Policy must reflect current practices; any material change must be disclosed in the Policy with an 'updated' date. |
| Canada — PIPEDA & Competition Act | PIPEDA does not specify a minimum advance notice period for policy changes. However, the accountability and openness principles require clear, timely communication of policy changes to affected individuals. AqNova provides 30 days' notice to Canadian users for material Privacy Policy changes. |
| Canada — Quebec Law 25 / Bill 64 | Quebec's Law 25 requires that the Privacy Policy be updated and that users be informed when the purposes for which personal information is used change. No specified advance notice period, but notification must precede the effective date of the change. |
| Brazil — LGPD Art. 8(5) & Art. 9 | Where consent is withdrawn or a change affects the legal basis for data processing, the LGPD requires prior notice to data subjects before the change takes effect. AqNova provides 30 days' advance notice for material LGPD-relevant Privacy Policy changes to Brazilian users. |
| Australia — Privacy Act APP 1 & ACCC Guidelines | No statutory minimum advance notice period. However, the ACCC has issued guidance that material changes to consumer-facing terms should be communicated in advance with sufficient time for consumers to consider the changes. AqNova provides 30 days' notice as standard for Australian users. |
| India — IT Rules 2021 & DPDPA 2023 | No statutory advance notice period specified. However, transparency obligations require that changes to privacy policies and terms be communicated promptly. AqNova provides notice via in-platform notifications and email for material changes affecting Indian users. |
| South Africa — POPIA Act 4 of 2013 | POPIA's accountability and transparency obligations require that changes to privacy policies and processing purposes be communicated to data subjects. AqNova provides 30 days' advance notice for material Privacy Policy changes to South African users. |
| Nigeria — NDPA 2023 & FCCPA 2019 | No specific advance notice period specified. NDPA accountability obligations require documentation and communication of processing changes. FCCPA requires transparency in consumer-facing terms. AqNova provides notice via email and in-platform notifications. |
| AqNova Global Standard | AqNova applies the following as its global minimum standard, meeting or exceeding all applicable jurisdictional requirements: MATERIAL changes: 30 days' email advance notice to all affected registered users. MATERIAL changes affecting EU/UK business users (vendors): 60 days' email advance notice. REGULATORY changes: Notice as soon as practicable, no later than 5 Business Days after the change. MINOR/ADMINISTRATIVE: Changelog update only, no user notification. |
AqNova delivers policy change notifications through the following channels, applied by change type and jurisdiction:
Email notification: Sent to all registered users' verified email addresses. Used for MATERIAL and REGULATORY changes. Email must contain: document name; version numbers (old and new); effective date; plain-language summary of material changes; link to the full updated document; and instructions for how users may exercise any rights affected by the change (e.g., how to close an account, withdraw consent, or raise an objection).
In-platform notification: Banner notification displayed at the top of the Platform interface on next login. Used for MINOR and UPDATE changes and as a supplementary channel for MATERIAL changes. Notification persists until the user acknowledges it.
Changelog page update: All changes of any type are reflected in the Changelog within 24 hours of going live.
Footer update: The Platform footer 'Version/Effective Date' display is updated within 24 hours of any change going live.
Policy Changelog RSS feed: AqNova provides an RSS/Atom feed of Changelog updates for users who wish to subscribe at aqnova.co/legal/changelog/feed.
Every superseded version of every AqNova policy document is archived and publicly accessible for a minimum of 5 years from the date it was superseded. This 5-year standard applies uniformly across all document categories, regardless of the nature of the change that superseded the archived version.
| AqNova Archive Policy — Key Commitments 1. DURATION: Minimum 5 years from date of supersession for all document versions. Regulatory requirements may extend this period for specific document types. 2. ACCESSIBILITY: Archived versions are publicly accessible at stable, permanent URLs. No login is required to access archived versions. Format: PDF (preferred for archive) and/or original DOCX. 3. STABILITY: Archived URLs do not change. Once published, the URL of an archived version is permanent and may be cited in legal proceedings, regulatory filings, and dispute resolution proceedings. Archive URL format: aqnova.co/legal/changelog/archive/[document-slug]/[version] Example: aqnova.co/legal/changelog/archive/privacy-policy/v1-0 4. LABELING: Every archived version carries a permanent banner: 'ARCHIVED — This is a historical version of the [Document Name].', 'It was in force from [Start Date] to [End Date].', 'The current version is at [Current URL].' 5. INTEGRITY: Archived documents are read-only. They cannot be modified after archiving. Any discovered error in an archived version is documented in the Changelog for that version's entry but the archived document itself is not edited. 6. DOWNLOAD: All archived versions are available for download as PDFs. 7. EXTENDED RETENTION: Where specific applicable law requires longer retention (e.g., GDPR processing records under Art. 30: 3 years after processing ceases; consumer transaction records: up to 10 years in some jurisdictions), AqNova extends retention for the affected document category accordingly. |

When a Changelog entry bears the REGULATORY change type, it means the change was driven by a specific legislative or regulatory development rather than a discretionary business decision by AqNova. The following table provides a reference for regulatory developments that AqNova is monitoring and that may trigger future Regulatory-type Changelog entries:
| Regulatory Development (Monitored) | Expected Impact on AqNova Policies & Timeline |
|---|---|
| EU — New Product Liability Directive (Directive 2024/2853/EU) — in force December 2024; member state implementation by December 2026 | May require updates to EU & UK Legal Notices (Section 9.2) and Buyer Terms to reflect expanded product liability regime covering defective digital products and AI-enabled products. Timeline: Monitor implementation; update by December 2026. |
| EU — AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) — in force August 2024; progressive application through 2026–2027 | If AqNova deploys AI-based recommendation or moderation systems that fall within AI Act scope, updates to Trust & Safety Policy and Privacy Policy may be required. Timeline: Ongoing monitoring; update upon deployment of in-scope AI systems. |
| Chile — New Data Protection Law (Proyecto de Ley sobre Protección de Datos Personales) — approved by Congress 2023; grace period expected 2025–2026 | Will require updates to South America Legal Notices (Section 9.5 Chile chapter) and Privacy Policy to reflect new comprehensive DPL framework including APDP agency establishment, enhanced rights, and breach notification. Timeline: Update upon law entering into force plus grace period. |
| India — DPDPA 2023 Implementing Rules — expected 2024–2025 | Final implementing rules under the DPDPA 2023 may require updates to Asia & Asia-Pacific Legal Notices (Section 9.6 India chapter) and Privacy Policy. Timeline: Update within 90 days of rules finalization. |
| Australia — Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) Amendments — reform bill expected 2025–2026 | Proposed reforms include: statutory tort for serious invasions of privacy; direct rights of action; expanded OAIC powers; stricter notification requirements. May require updates to Australia chapter (Section 9.6) and Privacy Policy. Timeline: Monitor reform bill; update upon enactment. |
| Canada — Consumer Privacy Protection Act (CPPA) / Bill C-27 — legislative progress ongoing | CPPA would replace PIPEDA with a more GDPR-like framework including consent requirements, data portability, and expanded enforcement. | EU — DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act) Regulation (EU) 2022/2554 — in force January 2025 | DORA applies to financial entities and ICT service providers. Monitor with payment processor partners. |
| South Africa — Cybercrimes Act 19 of 2020 (reporting obligations) — cybercrime reporting provisions in force | Section 54 requires electronic communications service providers to report cybercrime to the South African Police Service. If AqNova qualifies as an ECSP, updates to South Africa chapter (Section 9.4) and cybersecurity governance documentation may be required. |
| USA — Federal Privacy Law (anticipated but not enacted as of April 2026) | Any federal US comprehensive privacy law would require material updates to the Privacy Policy, California Privacy Notice, and potentially the Platform T&C. AqNova monitors federal privacy legislation closely. Update required upon enactment. |
